Breathing Problems And Pugs
Why do
pugs have trouble breathing?
Breathing problems and pugs seem to go hand in hand.
Pugs are bred to look a certain way to fit in the pug breed
characteristics.
But this breed standard lead to breathing problems for the
pug.
Pugs are classified in a group of dogs called brachycephalic
which means short snout. To go along with this
classification many dogs of this group also have an elongated
soft palate and a collapsible trachea.
Put all these together and you can see breathing problems
and pugs go hand in hand.
Pugs seem to be always snorting, sneezing, or making some
breathing sound.
So how do you know if the breathing sounds you hear are
normal?
Well if your pug seems to be getting enough oxygen and is
playful, then they are okay.
But if your pug is struggling to breath and seems stressed
out then you need to see your veterinarian.
