Pug Shedding
Do Pugs Shed?
Pug shedding is very common, and to answer your question
pugs do shed quite a bit, even more so than other breeds.
Although pugs do have short hair coats, they do have what is
called a double coat, an inner shorter hair coat and a longer
outer hair coat.
Many breeds have a double hair coat, but still don't shed as
much as pugs do.
To decrease how much your pug sheds you have to be proactive
in grooming them.
Brushing your pug with a good dog grooming brush can remove
a lot of hair preventing pug hair from getting all over your
furniture.
Good nutrition is also another great way to reduce pug
shedding. Diets rich in vitamin E can improve skin health
and keep follicles strong.
Certain disease conditions can increase the amount of
shedding and can actually lead to bald patches. Disease
conditions like Demodex can lead to bald patches, especially in
baby pugs.
