Teacup Pugs

Are you thinking about getting a Teacup Pug?  If so here are some important things to consider before forking over hundreds of dollars for this latest trend.

First of all Teacup Pugs are not a new breed, despite what some breeders say.  Most of these dogs are runted Pugs or crosses between Pugs and Chihuahuas.

If your Teacup Pug has a longer nose than it should, it could have some Chihuahua in it.  Before you buy one of these dogs make sure you know who the parents are and what their pedigree is.

These dogs do have cute faces and great dispositions.  They normally weight about 5 to 12 pounds.

If you do decide to get one make sure you get references from the breeder, at least three people.  Also, make sure you get a health guarantee.  Most people think that these dogs are not as healthy as other dogs, and since you are spending hundreds of dollars, protect your investment.

In general is it discouraged to buy any dog with “Teacup” in its name, but if you really want to buy a Teacup Pug, realize that there is risk involved and you may be encouraging breeders to breed even more of these dogs.
